The Swedish Society for Eighteenth Century Studies is an interdisciplinary forum for researchers specialized in eighteenth century. Through ISECS the members have also contact with similar kind of research in other countries. The soon 20-year-old Swedish Society for Eighteenth Century Studies has today more than 200 members, most of them from Sweden, but also from other countries. Among the members there are researchers of history, history of economy, history of ideas and sciences, rhetoric, history of law, Scandinavian languages, English, Roman languages, history of art, theatre, music, dance and literature. In 2005 the first volume of a new annual called "Sjuttonhundratal" was published. The Society arranges conferences, symposia, seminars and visits and guided tours. The Swedish Society publishes every year the yearbook Sjuttonhundratal (18th century) which includes peer-reviewed articles on the topic. The journal is an interdisciplinary forum for research on 18th century in the humanities and the social sciences. These are some of the most interesting PhD-dissertations defended during 2007/2008. They were presented at the annual meeting of the society, the so called "research front" in November 2008. Aldman, economical history, Uppsala University, about the textile import to Stockholm during the years 1720-1738; Jacobsson, history of ideas, Stockholm University, about topographical descriptions of Västergötland; Östlund, history, Lund University, legitimation of power; Arvidsson, Stockholm University, about power and death, state and church; Candréus, Uppsala University, about heraldry, embroidered funeral flags ca 1670-1720.
